Strengthening Regulatory Science is Essential to Improving Access to Safe, High-Quality Medicines in Africa

Date:July 27, 2026

We are pleased to see our Head of Global Regulatory Strategy, Eric Boateng-Karikari, among the authors of a newly published paper in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology on a university-certified programme that has helped build the capacity of clinical assessors from regulatory authorities across Africa.

Eric was the faculty lead for the interpretation of clinical data—including pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), efficacy and clinical safety generated in foreign populations—and their appropriate extrapolation to African populations.

At Bio Usawa, we believe that advancing biotechnology goes hand in hand with strengthening the regulatory expertise needed to bring quality medicines to patients across the continent.
