Bridging Vision and Impact: Bio Usawa at the African Diaspora Investment Symposium 2026

Date:March 09, 2026

In the first half of 2026, Bio Usawa will open Sub-Saharan Africa’s first GMP-compliant monoclonal antibodies manufacturing facility in Rwanda — a historic milestone for health innovation, equity, and economic transformation on the continent.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that this achievement would not have been possible without the generous financial, intellectual, and moral contributions of Africans in the diaspora and friends of Africa. Their belief, expertise, and sustained commitment exemplify the power of African financial and intellectual capital when aligned with purpose.

This facility is more than infrastructure — it is a platform for impact. By strengthening local biomanufacturing capacity, Bio Usawa directly advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through improved access to life-saving biologics; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by creating high-skilled jobs and strengthening local value chains; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through advanced, GMP-compliant manufacturing; and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by bringing critical therapies closer to the populations that need them most.

Bio Usawa CEO and President, Dr. Menghis Bairu, will speak at the eleventh annual African Diaspora Investment Symposium (ADIS26), taking place March 25–27, 2026, at Santa Clara University.

This year’s theme, “Bridging Africa & Silicon Valley: Shaping the Future of Innovation, Investment, and Inclusive Growth,” mirrors the Bio Usawa journey — demonstrating how global collaboration, science-driven innovation, and diaspora-led investment can build resilient institutions and deliver lasting impact.

We invite you to join his session, “Connecting the Dots: An Annual Dialogue on Harnessing Science and Innovation to Improve Lives, Well-Being, and Drive Economic Growth.”
